I have a wire wheel for my hedgie. But I've seen a lot of people moving away from wire to plastic wheels for their small pets. I have the same kind of wheel for my rats and they love it. So I was wondering which wheel would be the best for a hedgehog? If wire isn't good I can easily pick up a solid plastic one and give this wire one to my rats. Here's a couple pics of what I'm talking about in case I'm not coming through clearly. I really suck at describing things.

Wire or Plastic?

So I was wondering which wheel would be the best for a hedgehog? If wire isn't good I can easily pick up a solid plastic one and give this wire one to my rats. Wires aren't good because their nails can get caught on the wheel causing serious injuries. Bucket wheels are the best type of wheels for the little babies.
Wire wheels have too high a risk of getting their small toes stuck and then they get hurt.
The other wheel because of ridges could hurt their feet too - depends on the ridges and how much your hog runs.
The absolute best wheels are bucket wheels like caroline storm wheels or you can make your own bucket wheel, the flat smooth running surface is best and it's not likely to cause any harm to their little feet especially if they are more active.
A surface too curved can also cause them to slip off all the time after having done a wee on it (because you know the wheel also acts a toilet to them)
