Absorbent fabrics for liners?

I'll be making liners so I'm wondering what an absorbent fabric is? I was going to use Shamwows but they aren't supposed to go in the dryer and I don't want to hang dry all the liners. I'll be using flannel or fleece on the top layer. And are there any absorbent fabrics that will help keep the urine smell down?

I've heard that some people sew an old towel into the middle of their liners. You also might want to try the absorbent fabric used for cloth diapers. My friend used to make her own for her 1 year old and I think she would buy the fabric at Joann's Fabric.

Cotton quilt batting would probably do pretty well, as long as you had it between two layers of fabric. You should stitch across it in a grid pattern to keep it from bunching when you wash the liners.
