Hi all,

Just thought I would share some pics of one of South Africa's natives. He was sadly found by our landlords dogs. Was released into the wild once we were sure he was OK and got the go ahead from a wildlife vet.

Thanks for sharing. He looks very similar to pet hedgehogs. Was he an African Pygmy hedgehog or some other species?

He's a Southern African hedgehog (Atelerix frontalis). We don't have indigenous four toed hedgies here. The native ones are much darker. 🙂
