What litter to use in wheel pan?

My little one has started to pull out the paper towels under her wheel so I have extra cleaning to do in the morning.

I was thinking of making a litter box from a plastic tub so that the wheel was in there and litter so everything would stay in there and not tracked all over the place.

Anyone have suggestions about what litter I should use? Was thinking a paper litter or maybe a non clumping cat litter.

You don't want to use any clay-based cat litter, even non-clumping. It can still get stuck in privates, though it's more risky for males. Paper towels work just fine for a lot of people, but if you want an actual litter or if you try the towels & your girl tries to drag them out or chew on them (some do...even with the messy paper towels ), Yesterday's News cat litter (paper pellets) is another popular choice. Carefresh is another possibility, but it's messier & tends to dry out skin, especially if she decides it's more fun to try & burrow in it than to poop on it.

I was leaning more toward Yesterday's News but just wanted a second opinion from people more experienced. Going to get a bag and make a litter box for the wheel and see how she likes it. She does good with paper towel other than wanting to drag it out of the pan  but we will see how it goes I hope this turns out much better, mainly for me. Having poopy foot prints all over isn't cool, have to change the liner for often.
