I thought from looking at the color guide that shes an algerian chocolate but im not sure because as shes quilling now she has black banded quills on her forhead that fades as you go down her back to the chocolate bands she had before she was quilling. Im pretty sure she is an algerian color because she has cheek patches. can anyone tell if shes a chocolate or other color? i have alot more pics if more are needed and sorry if any of these are too big =/

iirc quill color is usually one of the last things they look at when trying to determine a color.

Usually it is mask color, cheek patches, shoulder mottling and color, belly mottling and color, feet color. it seems silly to do it this way, but i remember in one of the writing on HHC that quill color varies between hedgehogs of the same color, where as the skin/nose color stays pretty much consistent

so despite the black quills on her head she would still be an algerian chocolate? she fits the description on the color guide otherwise. her skin is dark grey her mask is brown and so are her cheek patches and her nose is brown as well. the only thing that dosnt quite match is that it said her underbelly should be heavily mottled but only her legs have any major mottling on them her belly itself has only light mottling more like the white bellied color

Algerian Chocolate. As Bryan is CONSTANTLY reminding me ( cuz I am slow and stupid ) you have to look at all 8 color characteristics and go by the majority of those 8. Seven really due to age being 9 weeks and up. However all will start to "fade" after about a year. So if the hedgie is between 9 weeks and one year there are only seven characteristics and since 7 is uneven you go with the majority. So a hedgie may have all characteristics of an Algerian chocolate let's say except for a black nose. You would still classify that hedgie as an Algerian chocolate.
