Is velcro generally hedgie safe? I cant imagine why it wouldnt be, but I thought I would ask. I am upgrading quilloughby's house, and found a cage for free on craigslist. The only drawback is that it needs a bit of alterations, which i am more than happy to do. I decided on using dryer ducting for the ramps (they are already in place, i just want to lay something over the grated mesh and so he wont fall) and i thought about using velcro as opposed to zip ties, so that it would be easier to remove if and when i wanted to clean it. I also thought about using it to secure the wheel in place.

Any thoughts?

I know others have used velcro with success in holding down liners. And it's used on the commerically available snugglesafe disk covers which I have used until they started falling apart.

My thought is that as long as you're not doing something silly like lining hedgie's wheel or other walking surfaces (ie, where hedgie could get a toe caught) with the loop part of velcro's hook and loop system, it oughta be okay.
