for hedgies the cause is usually from bacteria getting stuck around the yknow what. to prevent i mean i guess i would just try to keep the place mostly clean and dont let it get to dirty. if it does happen ik warm baths and stuff like that could help. not an expert but thats my thoughts.

im gonna be honest i don't know much about that stuff so i was hoping someone else replied lol. but no problem

I have only had 1 hedgehog who had a UTI. No URIs here. The one UTI was discovered to be a secondary illness during his necropsy. He had a male reproductive cancer. I advocate using cage liners over any form of substrate bedding to help reduce dust and stuff from potentially getting lodged into sensitive areas.
