Well, I pretty much asume that I got them all.
Theories
I have a few theories why hedgehogs annoint
1. To hide from predators by hiding their scent
2. For grooming purposes
3. Using poisons, to poison predators that come in contact with their quills
Anybody have any other theories? Or did I cover them all?

Maybe it is one theory plus this one : to have a smell that appeales to them. I mean, if ur going to, say, grrom yourself with that, you could self annoint off of a smell you enjoy to hit 2 birds with 1 stone.
Oh! maybe to smell nice for mates! I heard of another theory before that scientist thought... but I 4get.

The smelling nice for mates thing occurred to me too. Since I think they normally anoint with food couldn't it be like "see I know all the best place to eat"
That would also be a reason males are more frequent annointers than females.
