Hello all! My little guy Rafael got surgery today for a prolapsed eye- they removed his eye . Not sure how long it will take for him to adjust . I will be picking him up tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone had tips on making him as comfortable as possible when he gets back home. Thanks bunches 💜

Make sure his cage layout stays the same, give him lots of love, make sure he gets his pain meds (if he has any) and just treat him extra well :)

How is he doing now? Its been a few days. Follow veterinary instructions, monitor for swelling/infection, etc.

Hedgehogs tend to adjust very quickly to blindness (even when its both eyes). The biggest thing I can suggest is to make sure you just talk to him and announce your presence before picking him up. Just talking to them, and tapping on their cage before you scoop them up helped a lot from keeping them from getting startled.
