So I'm bringing Dexter to the vet to have him checked out, see whats going on

They told me on the phone some of the examination procedures may require them to put him under anesthesia I believe (something so he is relaxed/napping while they check him out).

I was wondering if this is okay?

It can be risky if the vet doesn't know what they are doing, but if they have experience with small animals like rats I wouldn't be too worried.

My vet does the same for an examination. Quigley wouldn't open for him so it was the only way to examine him. They don't give enough to knock the hedgehog out completely but just make him sleepy and relax his muscles.

Yea he was really upset when we went. He made noises I have never heard him make before...they were trying to examine him without drugging him first and he knew something was up! He was hissing and popping like I've never heard him do before! He even growled a few times!!! Never heard him do that before, it was kinda funny because I knew he was like "get the **** away from me!!!!"

So they gave him something to relax him and all was well after that haha

Ender's visit was awesome. Both the tech and the vet said he was the friendliest hedgie they'd seen. He ran around most of the time and only balled up with the tech tried to get him off the scale. He also gave them a urine and poo sample in case they needed it :)

Have to brag :D

Thank you. I got it from the book Ender's game. I love the book, plus think it's a neat name.

He was born March 18, so he's almost 8 months old. I took him in for a well-hedgie check up at about 4 or 5 months just to make sure we were on the right track.
