So my little boy Andy is just about one year old now. When I got him he was already quilling and in about a couple months he stopped. Now however when I look into his cage in the morning I see quills everywhere (not just a few, maybe 6-8 or more) and some stray white belly hairs.
I'm almost in a state of panic now because I have no idea what to do! The family has cats, but they're typically indoors, I've always checked his shampoo before use too! I don't think it has anything to do with diet because his last change of regular kibble was months ago, and it has purely natural ingredients good for little hedgie tummies.

Please help!

6-8 quills is nothing to worry about. They will loose quills and hairs just like we do. That being said a quilling at about a year is not unheard of. They can also shed more with temperature changes or stress just like we do. If the little one is showing any signs of dry skin you can always add some flax seed oil to their food as it won't hurt(puncture a gel cap and mix in w/ kibble). This could take anywhere between three to eight weeks to make a noticeable impact but is good for their skin.
