I know I have to give my hedgehog 12-14 hours of sleep, but does that mean 12-14 at minimum or should he get 12-14 hrs of light and then ALSO 12-10 hours of dark?

I'm asking this because I know it should always be 72-73 degree AT MINIMUM, so I shouldn't turn the heat lamp off for long if ever because I don't want the temp to drop, although I don't understand how he'd get a certain amount of light vs. dark if I always have to keep the heat lamp on.

Someone, please explain to me how this works? I just want to be able to do everything right for my hedgie... so, I'm sorry if this is a really dumb question. Haha.. maybe I'm over-thinking it.

If you don't understand my question, I can try to make it less wordy.

Take your heat bulb back to the store and exchange for a "ceramic heat emitter". These emit 0 light.
So the heat can stay on 24/7.

Then, get a separate normal desk lamp, put that on a timer for the 12-14hours of "daylight", so that it shuts off at "night", to give complete darkness.
