Possible oral cancer

My 2 year old Hoggle was at the vet today as she's been struggling with food and refusing her favourite crickets (which isn't like her as she's a huge foodie who loves to eat).

The vet did an xray, a biopsy and had to remove 6 teeth.

She said the xray showed the bone around her eye socket is crumbling and sent her home with antibiotics and heavy duty painkillers (animal tramadol).

She thinks with the bone and the loose teeth that the possibility of cancer is likely. I'm terrified and upset and don't know what to expect as she's so young.

We have to go back next week for teeth extraction follow up.

I've given her the night time dose of the tramadol and she seems unsteady on her feet and anxious and restless, is this normal side effects?

Any help would be welcomed.

The meds could cause all the restless. I am sorry to hear about your baby's situation. I hope she is not in a lot of pain. Her normal food may be too hard for her to eat - I would suggest softening her usual kibble or you may switch to wet cat food, baby food, scrambled eggs (no seasoning).

If it is cancer and it progresses, you will see her quality of life slipping away (I hope not).
Best wishes!

I've always softened her food for her (she always refused to eat if i didn't soften it first).

We have to go back to the vet today to find out results and to see how long she has and what I can do to make it all easier for her. I'm heartbroken

Does she have cancer? Hope not!

I don't know. The lab called the vet and said they didn't take enough and they need more to get a definitive answer so I've to take her back next week to do the biopsy all again 😥

Vet added a stronger antibiotic so now she's on 2 different antibiotics and tramadol pain relief
