Hi all. I'm a new hedgehog owner. Just recently acquired my little Toledo. He's only a little over 3 months old, and he's been living with me for only 9 days now. Other than on his wheel, he really only poops in his bed under his shelter. He gets filthy constantly because of this, and I'm constantly changing his bed to clean it. Is he choosing to poop only in his bed because he's young and still slightly scared? Or should I expect this from him from now on?

Sometimes they do this when they are sick but with him being so young he might just be scared to come out of his house. One thing you can try to eliminate it as a possibilty is put some paper towel down and then make sure you take a detached sheet and fold a corner up. It may or may not help out but you can always try. My hedgie will go under the top papertowel and go to the bathroom on the others and it lets him feel like he is being sneaky and unseen. If you use litter you can put the papertowel over the top and see if he will hide under while he goes potty.
