So I know that there are laws in NYC where it is illegal to own hedgehogs, but why? I currently live in NY State but am thinking about places to move to after college. Is there any way to get these laws reversed? I understand why there are laws in Hawaii since hedgies could possibly live wild their but NYC?? Also, would there be any way to petition this, and if so, how would I (if others have done so in the past) and to whom?? I have been waiting some time to get a hedgehog and am really hoping to try to possibly get this reversed (I am not even sure if it has been tried)! Sorry for the lengthy post!! Happy Holidays!

It's not really against hedgehogs specifically but exotic pets as a whole if I'm not mistaken. I'm not quite sure why its like that though :?
