Hello, I am a newbie to this site, and a newbie to our new hedgehog, her name is Snowball. She is about 9 weeks old. I have several questions that would like to be answered. Lately, she has been doing the pop, making noises. I figured after I seen some posts about quilling. I see she already shedding her baby ones. Is this behavior is normal because she's in pain? We gave her an oatmeal bath, and she calmed down, but the next day same old thing.

Sounds like she may be in pain from the quilling. You did great with giving her the oatmeal bath and hopefully she will be feeling better soon

It is absolutely normal behaviour, my Loki did that too. Oatmeal baths are a good way to help, but make sure you're not giving one every day, or even every other day. Too many baths can chap the hoglet's skin and make them even more uncomfortable.

Congrats on your new baby! Like others have said, popping/hissing excessively is probably relate to quilling. My Lily (whose age is unknown, but we think she's under 6 months) is quilling now and her skin is very sensitive. If I part her quills and look closely, I can even see new quills poking up through her skin. I can't imagine that's comfortable!

Thanks Everyone. Snowball is doing well, its almost 2 weeks since we have her. She still acting the usual. But active at night, busy leaving us a dirty wheel to clean... Joys of having a hedgehog

Hegdehogs will pop and hiss regardless of age/quilling.
