I finally upgraded Sir Wigglemunch's cage
originally he was in a 3ft x 1.4ft which I was told was an okay size, but his bed, wheel and litterpan just took up so much space
I felt sorry for the poor guy... So I've been saving since I bought him and finally managed to afford a 3.8ft x 2ft vivarium with a matching cabinet- so not only is there an extra 1.4ft of floor space for him but it just looks so much better than keeping that old viv on my shoddy computer table.
I've also purchased some finacard and paperlits which are a godsend! I've never used substrate before because nothing I found in the shops was suitable, even carefresh wasn't 100% recommended (also the stuff smelt so potent when he peed in it, even after just 1 day) so I just ended up laying paper down for him which was neglecting his need to snuffle and forage.
Saying that, I've yet to put the finacard in yet, the paper I lay to protect the wood of the viv just slides around too much, so I didn't want the card getting under the paper along with faeces and urine. I ended up purchasing a cheap yoga mat (£12) which should arrive today, which I intend to cut and lay on the bottom of the cage before spreading the finacard on top. He's litter trained so hopefully this means I'll only have to spot clean around his litter tray where it may spill out sometimes.
I'm aiming to post some update pics tonight. Just thought I'd share as I'm very excited and happy to see that he has so much more room to explore
