Hi All,

I got a hedgie from a local exotics store about a week ago, wasnt able to find a breeder in the Las Vegas area. I noticed a bump on his nose yesterday. I think it might be a scab, it does look a little crusty. Should I seek vet assistance? or just let it be?

Did he have a wheel in his pet shop cage? A lot of pet shops don't give hedgehogs appropriate wheels. Some will go stir crazy running laps in the cage. If it was an aquarium they'll rub their noses against the glass until it starts to bleed and scab.

I do beleive it was a glass cage, and he was with about 6-7 other hedgies. I'll try to snap a pic when i get home. I guess he could have been bitten, the scab is more on his snout(?) or the bridge of his nose.

I think I know what you are talking about, but I'm not sure what causes it. Is it like a weird crusty buildup on the nose? I've seen a lot of pictures of hedgies (especially ones that large scale breeders have) all with weird crusties/scabs on the bridge of their nose. I'll have to see if I can find an example picture.
