Hello, I am thinking about getting a hedgehog soon.


I have a few questions:
-Would you recommend buying him from a previous owner? He is 11 months old.
-What things do I need before I bring him home?
-Any tips?

Yes, it'd be fine to buy him from his previous owner. Just keep in mind that he may take awhile to warm up to you, depending on how much handling he's had. You'll also want to get a bag of his current food from that owner, enough for a couple weeks, and a couple of bottles of the water he's drinking. Slowly changing these two things to new food/water will help avoid stomach upset (rather than an instant change).

You'll need his cage set-up, including heating, hide-away, wheel, food and water bowls, whatever you're using for bedding (liners are a favorite on here), and other toys. You'll probably also want whatever foods you'd like to switch him too, though you'll want to wait a few days before starting the food change.

I have a few questions about my future hedgie. I decided to go with a male, who is four months old. He's so cute, I decided that instead of Sonic, I'm going to name him Gilbert, he seems more of a Gilbert kinda guy, very cute and a bit chubby. >.<

Anywho, these are my questions:

-Do you think he'll warm up to me?
-Will I be able to litter train him?

I already decided how I'm going to decorate his "room". He's going to have a space ship theme (with these kind of fleece: http://www.imaginenu-nu.com/site/images ... C08728.JPG)

I cannot wait to get him!

I think both questions can be answered with "depends". Some will never warm up, some will just take a while, some will right away. Some can be litter trained, some can't.
