Hello, two days ago I bought a hedgehog. My first hedgehog! I know I might be trying to move too quickly but I would like some tips on how to get my new pet to like me. She's a little over a year old so she already had a bond with her previous owners and she's incredibly timid. She hisses if I even go near her cage. I've only held her twice because she doesn't seem to like it. When I hold her, she hisses like crazy and tries her best to get away from me. What's the best way to introduce to myself and my house? I want her to get used to being handled by me but I'm not sure how. Any and all tips are welcome! Thanks in advance. :)

very important that you hold her everyday for at least 30 minutes or longer even if shes huffy! i recommend putting a tshirt with your scent on it in her sleeping place as well. give her lots of love & mealworm bribes dont hurt  mostly it takes time. some hedgehogs adjust in a few weeks and some can take up to a year, most important: do not give up!!! a lot of people expect hedgehogs to be as affectionate as guinea pigs or dogs and it just doesnt work that way. she will adjust to you and start to know your scent. a lot of hedgehogs get rehomed because their owners have the wrong behavior expectations. best of luck!

peace & love!!!
