We have given Kush a carrot and a peice of apple, each time she licks her quills and gets really foamy at the mouth and puts it in her quills, why is she doing this?

Don't worry! That is completely normal, it is called self-anointing. They froth at the mouth and spread it on their quills when then find a smell they like. We don't know for sure why they do it but it's harmless (unless what she's anointing with is dangerous) and quite entertaining to watch.

Yup, it's a normal behavior! Some hedgies do it more often than others. Mine, for example, has only anointed twice - once over a new towel that I was holding her with, and a couple days ago she went crazy licking and self-anointing over my boyfriend's hair! it was hysterical!

lol your hedgehog must have liked the smell of his shampoo or something. That's so funny. Quigley annoints with beef liver treats (the kind they sell for dogs) they are his favourite thing to smell like.
