i just had roxy's nails trimmed 2 weeks ago, and there starting to grow out already. she dont like much of any kind of contact, so the last time her nails were cut i brought her to the vet and the vet insisted on a mild anistetic (pardon the bad spelling) before cutting. so my question is, is there any suggestions or advice anyone can give me so i can trim her nails myself instead of bringing her to the vet every few weeks ??

Theres a few tricks but its not easy at all. If you have someone who could help by holding her and letting a leg through there fingers while you cut that might work, you can set them on their backs and wait for them to unroll (This is what I personally do but its a big pain, and if they refuse to unball set them in some shallow water and it should gettem out.

Nail trimming doesn't seem to be pleasant for either party but I'd much prefer the difficulty over sedatives as most vets aren't too familar with hedgies.

Also, don't expect to get them all at once. If you can get one foot per a session you're doing fine. Don't forget the back nails seem to grow much quicker than the front.

If you don't already start playing with her feet nightly. Start with just touching, then start holding them to restrict some movement. The more she gets used to you holding her feet still the better off you will be in the future with nail trimming. Otherwise you will be visiting the vet often to trim nails.
