Ok.

Here in Canada, we have a lot of different opinion about color.

I'd like to know the color of my hedgehogs to compare with what they told me.

Mika

Kiara

Bazooka

Kalia

Élliott

Nicky (She is pinto, and I think she's going to be snowflake a little bit)

Thanks!! :D

I'm totally guessing on all of these, but I wanted to try my luck, lol.

Mika: Algerian Grey
Kiara: Algerian Brown (love the name, btw)
Bazooka: Algerian Grey or Chocolate
Kalia: Albino
Elliott: Algerian Chocolate...?
Nicky: Algerian Chocolate pinto

They're all beautiful hedgies! We'll see how many I get right (if any!), hehe.

They are all over 1 year old.

Only Nicky could change a little bit again because she's 4 1/2 months. ;)

Bazoo could not be Chocolate because he has only one or two white quills.

And thanks for your nice comments!! ;)

Ok After conferring with Bryan Smith, a Canadian breeder and the fellow responsible for determining the colors of African mixed breed pet hedgehogs, we have the following:
Mika is an Algerian Dark Grey
Kiara is an Algerian Chocolate
Bazooka is an Algerian Grey
Kalia is an Albino
Elliot is an Algerian Chocolate Pinto
Nicky is an Algerian Chocolate

Thanks!! ;)

Just to let you know. I know that Élliott is not pinto.. he was a fake pinto because he was dark and one day, he had a problem with is skin and lost a big part of his quills. All the new quills grew up in white color. his skin his dark. Another time, he had a problem with his eye and he closely lost it (I'm not sure if it's a good sentence.. me and my english... LOL) so he was very stresssed and lost his quills again and they grew up in white too so that's make more white quills!! Now, I call him "my fake snowflake" !!

And I thought Kiara would be brown. She doesn't have a lot of white quills. I can count them in my hand!!

I don't understand the different of chocolate and snowflake!!

I read somewhere a long time ago that when a hedgie loses quills due to a problem they usually grow back white in color. Does anyone know why that happens or if it is even true?

I can say that it's not true because I had another hedgehog (Kovu) and he had a problem with his quills too. He lost a big part of his quills and they grew up back in their own color!! ;)
