I dont know if i should be alarmed or not but hedgies been losing more quills then normal i think? His pedigree says he was born 9/27/09, making him around 5months....I usually dont invade his igloo stuffed with fleece, but i did notice lots of quills. i took them all out, just to see how many id find the next day, about 4 or 5. He acts fine, a little grumpy not so much he'll unball after he gets relaxed. Still active at night. his quills do have the follicles, but its white on the follicle end. I dont think he has mites he never been on wood shavings. always a clean fleece. any ideas of what could be causing this. or should I take him to the vet asap?

How's his eating and pooping?

Are you finding dandruff as well? Or just loose quills?

His poop and eating seem to be regular...I dont think im seeing dandruff...i am seeing alot of his regular hairs tho.

Okay, I re observed after cleaning his tub.His skin does look kind of dry. And while holding him alone 4 quill fell out. Whats the next step I should take? Vet?

Can try the vitamin E or flax seed oil capsules. Do a search on this forum on either one and you will find information on how to use. Search field is in top right corner of this website.
