Hello all!
So I know I haven't been the most active forum participant lately, but I'm still around, and Turbo is too. :D
Anyway, he had mites a few months ago, and I took him to the vet and treated him with Revolution and that seemed to solve the problem. However, I'm worried that they might have come back. I haven't noticed him scratching at all, but he's lost 7 quills in 3 days, and since he's an adult, this is unusual. Is it normal for mites to come back, even after being treated for them a few months ago?
I have him on liners and haven't changed anything about his cage setup or food, but it has been stressful for awhile. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital, and he lived with a friend of mine during that time. I recently got him back, and he's been shuffled around quite a bit. Could all the commotion have led to the quill loss? Do you think that it's mites again?

I feel so repetitive because I asked about mites a few months ago when it first happened, but since the circumstances are so different, I figured I'd ask again.
Thanks!

Update Turbo had 11 loose quills in his sleeping bag when I took him out today. Whether they were all from last night or if they've been there for a few days, nonetheless, that is a lot more than usual. Any suggestions?

well i know when sage first came to me she had had mites. a month before and was treated.when she came to me she was loosing a lot of quills but it turned out not to be mites, just stress from the move. maybe turbo is experiencing the same thing. Also if you can get one of the quills that fell out and look at it if it has a ball on the end ( like a little sometimes yellowish nub) then that usually means that it isnt mites because i think that they eat that part. if it is there then it is probably mites. Look at a few of them because sometimes the little ball on the end does just fall off so look at a bunch if most of the ends are there then it is probably stress. :D i hope this helps and is correct

just for future reference, just because the quills have the little balls on the end doesn't mean they don't have mites....they can have mites and the quills can still have the little balls. Its a common misconception that if the ball is there there are no mites...but that's not true.
