As mentioned, owning a hedgehog is going to cost a lot initially. You need a large (and safe!) cage at least 4 square feet (often these are over $100), a large safe wheel at least 12", a heating setup which includes thermometer with probes to regulate their environment, bedding/fleece, good quality cat foods, a water bowl, etc. You also need to factor in possible vet bills. I just had to take mine to an emergency vet (none of the vets I had researched ahead of time that took hedgehogs had any openings for weeks) and it cost me $305 and I still don't know what is really wrong (she's been having diarrhea last few days), so I'll probably have to try a different vet soon (make sure you research vets nearby ahead of time!). She's 11 weeks old and only had her a month, so you really need to be prepared to spend money on vet bills before you hope they would ever need it. Also keep in mind that hedgehogs can live 5 or more years. You don't say how old you are, but most colleges don't allow pets on campus and will your parents want to properly care for the hedgehog? That includes cleaning poopy wheel and feet every day. Not trying to discourage you, just sharing the realities. Which also includes having a pet that sleeps most of the day and may never want to cuddle
