little questions

Gosh, I've read so much about these babies, but it seems like there's so much conflicting information and stuff. I read through that whole book that was linked to me, though, and there's some really good stuff in it and I feel better about some of the stuff I've already done for him. I think he's a cuddler!

I just have a couple of questions - I read that when they sleep all splayed out with their limbs all spread, they might be too warm? Henrik does that when he's sleeping on me. I don't have a snuggle sack for him yet, but right now he's up between my hoodie (which is open in the front) and my shirt, right in the crook of my arm. He could easily get out and go somewhere else, and I assume it's much cooler outside of my hoodie, but he's just sleeping all sprawled out against my arm and chest. Is it possible that he just likes it and is really relaxed? Or should I try to put him somewhere cooler?

He's also making these sweet little squeaky noises and twitching a little every now and then - is he just talking in his sleep? That's just the cutest thing I've ever heard! But he's not unhappy or hurting or anything, right?

The sleeping thing can also mean they're just super comfy. They usually don't splat because of heat unless it's really hot, like 85* or something.

They chirp like that when they're happy, so sit back and enjoy the cuteness! Sounds like he really feels at home already. Congrats! :)

My most insistent liner diver loves to get out on the bed and burrow in to my blankets. She finds some spot on my feet or next to me under multiple blankets with my body heat added in and just splats there. If she were uncomfortably hot she'd come out.

Sprawling out when sleeping is just them being comfy. :)

I did have an instance where a hedgehog did show she was too hot. One day, it was really hot in the room because we had so many people packed in the small living room at my parents' house. I was on the couch with Shadow in her hedgebag. I found she kept leaving the bag and would sprawl out on the cushion but not sleep. I would put her back in her hedgebag (at the time I didn't realize she was hot) and she would just come right back out and sprawl out again. I took her upstairs to my room where it was cooler and then she would stay in her hedgebag.

It sounds like everything you're describing are symptoms of a happy hedgehog. :)
