Our hedgie gus gus doesn't seem to hiss at us and does not seem to sleep in a ball much. Hessleep in a ball at first but now he seems to sleep on his side more often in only a half ball? We have only had him about a week.

Does he seem lethargic, and is he eating and drinking regularly? If he seems otherwise fine, I think you probably just got a very mellow hedgie and he's already comfortable in his new home. :)

He doesn't seem lethargic we made a little hedgie area in the front room so that he is safe but he can hang out with us he runs all over the place. We just thought they would be kinda grumpy but maybe that happens more when they get older.

You're probably just lucky to get a highly adaptable and a brave young hedgie :D

I think most hedgehogs don't sleep in a ball? Sometimes they sleep on their belly, sides, splatted out... I've seen them rarely sleep in a ball.
