Eight weeks ago my hedgehog Junie had six babies. We decided to keep one of them, Finnegan. However, here recently Finnegan has been acting differently. He doesn't explore and crawl around as much as the others (he's more of a cuddlebug, and truth be told that's why I like him so much), and my mother has become convinced he's sick. I believe it's just a combination of quilling and possibly a more cuddly personality (he's not shy- his spines are down when I hold him and he never balls up with me- he just prefers snuggling over exploring), but my mother is wondering why none of the other hedgehogs are behaving like he is. Could somebody give her some reassurance? He walks normally, his urine and stool is normal, and he eats as much kibble as the others. We've also caught him playing with the toilet paper tube several times. That's not something a sick hedgehog would do.

Sounds like he just likes to snuggle...Some hedgehogs aren't big explorers, really. Lily has never been a big fan of exploring, though she will once in awhile. Most of the time, though, she just likes to sleep/snuggle with me when I get her out in the evenings.
