Hi, my name is Kristi.
I live in Connecticut and i do not really enjoy the snow.
i go to a technical school and i am graduating this year.
im 17 and have been around animals my entire life.
Back in March, I rescued, i guess you can say, a hedgie from a lady down the street who had no knowledge of them and got it from her ex husband who just took care of it because his daughter decided she no longer wanted it. she was on a wire wheel, in an aquarium with no bedding, just a towel and the woman would shake her out of the towel just to look at her. she never held her because she was scared and so was her daughter. she had dirty water and the food they were giving her was terrible. they didnt even know her name or age. they just knew that they had her for a year and the ex husband has her for up to 2 years. they didnt even know her gender and were surprised when i told them she was a girl. there were also always screaming kids in the house and 2 super loud dogs. this woman loved to get pets but would grow tired of them and give them away. This is when i rescued Shea and fell in love with her, she was so happy to be held that day when i picked her up she basically clung to me and was happy to be in my hoodie pocket while i walked her home. she was very skinny and during our time together she gained wait and filled out nicely and also enjoyed countless hours of snuggle time and a huge playpen my mom had bought her. she recently passed away. Meeting Shea and spending my time(though it was only 6 months and she died from a natural cause maybe old age) with her really opened my eyes to the world of hedgehogs and i can just honestly say i love them.
this website helped me so much and i studied for a week straight before getting her from that house and i often went over there to hold her just so she had some attention.
I am now in the process of adopting a new girl hedgie baby which will be coming home with me this weekend. She is stunning and nameless as of now, but she will be a joy to have in my life. I am studying fashion at my school so there will be an abundance of fleece hideouts and such, sewing is my passion and i have sold the things i have made in the past to my friend for her guinea pig.
one thing that concerns me and just ticks me off is uneducated owners,i.e. people who don't do their research or are unwilling to accept that they dont know everything and admit their mistakes. i have referred an underclassman to this website and she is dead set that her opinion is right (hedgehogs dont really need a wheel but like them, they can eat just dog food and cat food is too small and they will choke, they can live in a tank, just a few of the things she was telling me while i was talking about her getting a hedgehog in the next month or so) it sometimes makes me wish people were king of tested before getting a pet with so many special needs.
if you want to know anything else about me you can just ask away because i would love to be able to interact with more people on here and i have asked a few questions already and have received great help from members on here, so thank you all.
