Hi, I am a first time hedgehog owner and 2 months ago I picked up my little one, Butternut. I'm doing my best to bond with them, and for the most part they are a very curious and sweet hedgehog, they will run around in my arms and unball almost immediately after being picked up. However I can't get her to stop huffing while being stroked or touched. Her quills will be either fully down or mostly down, so it never hurts, but she just throws a hissy fit everytime, and won't stop either. I've pet her for about five minutes hoping she would calm down but she just kept jumping and huffing at me, never biting though. I stopped because I didn't want to overly stress them out but is this normal? Do some hedgehogs just huff no matter what? She's very well behaved otherwise, (minus her insistence on chewing on clothing).
Any advice on how to get her to stop huffing would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Butternut's behavior is pretty normal. My hedgehog is the exact same way. Some hedgehogs just don't like to be pet on their quills 😅 I found out yesterday that my hedgehog likes it when I pet her front paws at least, so it's better than nothing lmao. The only the time she likes me to pet her quills is when we're playing and she purposely runs under my hand 😂. Any petting has to be done on her terms lol
