I wasn't sure where to post this but I thought it might be fun to start a club for hedgehogs in Florida. Just one where people would meet up and hang out, while socializing there hedgies. I just wasn't sure how to get it started. If anyone has some good ideas or would like to help put it together that'd be great. It'd be fun to meet other hedgehog owners in person.

You might want t get in contact with some breeders in the area; I'm sure they have lists of people interested in hedgehogs. Then post some information in pet-centered places, like a petco, or a Florida pet owners forum.

If you are interested in joining a hedgehog club that is already well established, consider the IHA!

Cool, those are some good ideas so far. I already submitted a payment for membership for the IHA, now it's just a matter of waiting. But I still thought it'd be fun to have a small local club on the side. I appreciate the ideas, thanks for replying so far.

Back in the mid 90's we started the IHFS - the precursor to the present-day IHA and the method we used was simple; shows.

Now, you don't need to put on a show per se in order to get enough people together with the same interests in order to start a club, but think of holding a get-together or an information show at a willing pet shop. These sorts of smaller group activities not only help draw people of like interest together, but they also help educate and introduce hedgehogs to others. If the interest warrants it, you may be able to get a nice little club going out of it. :)
