So, I am new to this whole hedgehog thing ;)

I have been reading a lot about bucket wheels. I think I may make one myself if and when i get a hog, but I am wondering how loud they are?

What wheels do you all prefer for your hedgies?

Quiet, but not noiseless. There's a bit of a whirring and little hedgie feet going pitter-patter.
That is, until someone gets the bearings wet and they start rusting. Can get a might bit squealy then.

Bucket wheels are much quieter than most commercially sold wheels- like comfort wheels. They are quiet, but can still make a lot of noise when you add the patter of hedgie feet, a little bit of flying poo, and the normal whir they make while spinning.

Bucket wheels are very nice and quiet, if you take care of the bearings. I didn't and mine whirrs loudly at night.

I use vasaline on the bearings every few weeks and it keeps them from rusting. I have some wheels that are 5.5 years old and still silent. That being said, I have some that are quite new and the bearings have rusted already. :x
