my cage all together since i have put all 3 sections together is about 5'w by 4'L by 2' but this consists of two play areas, connected to his main cage by some pvc pipe, his sleeping and eating area is like a guinnea pig cage with the plastic bottom, the other two sections are made from clear storage containers that are 66Qt. i feel this works great since it gives him plenty of room to play run and explore. this may be more than whats needed, some people just use a single 2' by 3' cage and others will give them the entire room, i guess it really just depends what you want. this website says that 2 square foot is the minimum for a hedgie cage and recommends 3 or 4

Yes, I've read 2 ft minimum on most sites, but a lot of the more experienced people on here say that it's 2 ft, AFTER all of the accessories are added, primarily the wheel and igloo/hidey space. Those two things seem to take up quite a bit of space, so just 2 ft square really isn't enough after they're added. So the bare minimum recommended would really be about 3-4 square feet.
