My new hedgy Kiki doesn't use her wheel at all - well she sits in it occasionally! And I'm scared she might get fat! I've stuck wet food to the top but it didn't work!

You can't really teach them. Some hedgehog's use a wheel eventually some don't. Usually it just takes time.

I'm having the same issue. My hedgie will not use his wheel. I've been trying everything to make him learn how to use it but nothing seems to be working. I don't know if there is a trick to make him learn how to use it. If there is any suggestions to help me teach my hedgie how to use the wheel that would be greatly appreciated.

Put your hedgehog on the wheel
Rock it back and forth
Block off the exit untill hedgehog starts walking/running
Do this once a day or until you hedgie understands how it works

I did this when I got kiwi a new wheel it took some time but she got the hang of it in a few days

You can also check and make sure the wheel isn't too stiff or the tilt is off.

I am not sure if this will work with hedgehogs, but it has worked with hamsters in the past.

1. Plop Hedgie in the wheel.
2. Very, very slowly turn it.
3. Your hedgehog should move one paw forward.
4. Slowly turn it again until she moves another paw forward.
5. Eventually she should start walking on her own and realize how much fun it is!

Don't force it, though.

Another thought I just had would be to plop your hedgehog in the wheel, and dangle a mealworm in front of her face, so that she walks forward. Give her the mealworm after a few seconds, this is just to teach her that the wheel moves.

Aww, Theo is so cute in his wheel!

My Giz had a flying saucer at first that she did not like at all for about a week (it took her some time to get used to it). Then she started running on it, but at that point, I had gotten a Carolina storm wheel (and stepped on the saucer after cleaning it  ).

I think (as long as the wheel is wide and big enough) she will get curious and start going. Unless this has been happening for a while (and she doesn't run around her cage) I wouldn't be super worried unless she's showing signs of illness.
