I'm going to be honest and say that 99% of my hedgehogs diet is dry iams adult cat food, but I feel the bits are to big, to hard and crunchy for her little teeth, but I can't afford to ship "chicken soup" cat food from america for £53.00 delivery at atime

The "dry cat food list" is to confusing, can someone please tell me a suitable dry cat food that is available in the UK or cheap to order online? I know it must contain high protein and low fat, but I don't know how much protein is high or how much fat is low. A brand name would be ideal.

Also, I heard you weren't supposed to feed the hogs acid fruit, but notice alot of people talking about apples, I've fed apple to the hedgehog a few times (doesn't seem to keen on it though) is she allowed this or not?

Thanks guys

For an adult hedgehog the rule of thumb is 15% or less fat and about 30% protein. And make sure that the main meat ingredient is from meat or meat meal. Avoid by-product meals. I would also suggest avoiding any food that has corn, corn meal, or corn gluten as one of the first 5 ingredients.

Most weight control or indoor versions of cat food will have the fat and protein levels you need. If you want to use dog food you will need to buy a small breed food, or crush/cut the kibble yourself.
