My 9 month old hedgie, Jeeves, has a pea-size lump behind his ear in his quills with pus. The lump is slightly red but more white, and the pus is whitish-yellow, I found it last night and cleaned it. When I was cleaning it, a quill came out and it was covered in pus. This morning there is new pus, put only a little. What do I do?

Do I take him to the vet, put oinment on it? Jeeves is my 3rd hedgehog and I have never seend this. Please help me, I am freaking out and want to make sure Jeeves is ok.

Thanks!

Sounds like an ingrown quill. Put some Neosporin (without pain reliever) on the spot 2 times a day for a couple of days. The pus (infection) should clear up in a couple of days, if not then you need to see a vet.
