I was telling my friends about how I'd set up the cage for my hedgie and why (they're as excited as I am). One of them wondered if anyone had ever made it so that the wheel on which the hedgie runs powers something else-- for example, provides power that is stored for 14 hours of light for the cage, or power stored for the heating element. Has anyone done this? It's all far beyond my (non-existent) electrical skills and so is not something I'm going to try, but I thought it was a fun idea and wanted to share it with y'all.

Apparently hamsters can power a nightlight... so it has sort of been done.

To be honest, I didn't read the whole page because the technical jargon lost me about half a page down. lol

[Edit: more hamster links...great way to procrastinate from studying for exams]
