Hi everyone,

I got my 1 year old hedgie a dig box (shoebox with pompoms and a fleece forest entry) and she's never had one before. I've tried putting her fav. treats in the box to make her and I'll place her in the box but all she'll do is walk out of the box. On the other hand, she LOVES digging in her sleeping bag so much that its almost falling apart. I'm sure she's not digging in the box not because we're watching her as she digs in her bag like crazy and enjoys running on her wheel in broad daylight. Any suggests as to how I should tell my hedgie a dig box is for digging? I don't like her digging in her sleeping bag because she breaks them really quickly by continuous digging everyday

The only way I know to teach a hedgehog to dig in a dig box is to put treats in it. I place one or two treats at the top, a few in the middle, and a few at the bottom. Do keep in mind that even though she plays with some things while you're watching, she just may not want to play in the dig box while you're watching. The best way to tell if she's using it or not is to check it the next day. If the treats are gone, she's eliminated in it, or pieces of it are scattered, she has used it.
