im not sure if this classifies as behavior and personality however ive been really curious. i have a seven month old hedgehog she has never had a litter of a babies and is not around younger hedgehogs. before i rescued a baby rat she was the smallest animal in the house. im not sure how old the rat is but her teeth are still too weak for food and she still suckles on stuff for milk i assume. i brought her home and had her in a little cage. my hedgehog is more of a free roamer. she has an enclosure she can climb right into whenever she wants, but she has been staying near the rats cage and letting out very soft squeaks whenever she hears the baby squeak. is she wanting to eat her or orphan her?? i let her meet her with a little bit of distance and she showed no sign of aggression. could she be interested in taking her in??

You shouldn’t keep them together because of your hedgehogs spikes, but they can have play dates. But always pay close attention if they can go near each other. At any sign of aggression, move them away, and make sure to be weary of your hedgehogs spikes and the rat.
Hedgehogs and rats should never have play dates. They should never be allowed to meet. Both animals risk causing serious injury to one another. Remember; hedgehogs EAT small rodents!! If the rat is small enough, your hedgehog WILL attack it!
Even when the rat is older and bigger, it still risks being injured by your hedgehog or the other way around. Please don’t let them interact with each other ever again.
