My fiance and I are getting our first hedgie in a few weeks and i had a question about heating the cage in the winter. We keep our house far to cold for him. I have looked up the options but was wondering what works best for everyone else. The cage is the rabbit superpet, so it does have a plastic bottom. Thanks for everyones input! :D

the best way to heat the cage and regulate the temperature is to use a ceramic heat emitter and thermostat.
you will need the emitter + a clamp lamp of some sort to put the emitter in (the emitter is just the light bulb.) and a thermostat and thermometer for keeping a constant temp.
:)
here are some links to the products i got:

Emitter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002A ... 00_s00_i00
Clamp Lamp: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002D ... 03_s00_i03
Thermostat: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002A ... 03_s00_i01

Not directly related to your question, but if you keep your house at quite a low temperature, when you have him outside the cage for snuggles and stuff, you might want to get a small space heater, because a drop in temperature and then a raise in temperature isnt good :( also, the space heater would help if your hog ends up to be an explorer and wants to be zooming about everywhere, and not cuddled up into your bodyheat :)
