Hi everyone,
First off I want to say thank you to everyone here. From reading all the posts on cage set ups and heating I was ready with a space heater before the first cool days. I live in an apartment and they do not turn on the heat until the end of October. I live on Long Island, NY and it has been cooler here over the last 2 weeks. I had the space heater set up and ready to go and used it successfully when I saw the temps were down on my digital thermometers that have probes inside the cages.
Being new to hedgehogs I was careful to not make it too hot either. However, I did find out that I had to keep my female a bit warmer because she did not run on her wheel for a few nights. She was eating and pooping and I had her out eating mealies but she was not usuing her wheel. Once I adjusted the thermostat on the space heater a little higher she seems fine and is back to her active little self.
Thanks everyone!
