Hello,

So my hedgie has an Upper Respiratory Infection. I took him to the vet on Monday and they gave him Clavamox twice daily by mouth. I have been giving him this since Monday afternoon and yesterday he pooped quite a bit upon waking him up in the evening. But this is normal for him. The poop was solid and brown. However, shortly after all of that he pooped out what looked like mucous and was green. It didn't look like poop at all. I contacted the vet office and she said this can happen from the antibiotics and to give him organic plain yogurt as a treat and if it does not clear up, to call back. Does anyone have any experience with antibiotics and green poop or have any personal stories to share that are similar to this?

Thanks :)

Very common problem with hedgehogs. Instead of yogurt, you can also go to the health food store and buy some acidolphilus, both help add good bacteria (probiotics) back to his GI. Sprinkle it on his food. No matter which way you go, you will want to give the probiotic about mid way between doses of the antibiotic for the best results. No closer than 2 hrs at a minimum else the antibiotic just kills off the good stuff.
