Our sweet little dude passed on our way to the emergency vet after he collapsed a few nights ago at age 5. At his most recent vet visit, we were told that he had an enlarged heart and a host of other geriatric hedgehog issues, so we suspect he had a heart attack or stroke.

Garth loved to party at night in his enclosure (party on, Garth!), gobble down canned mealworms, explore the garden in front of our apartment building, snooze with one leg sticking out of his igloo, and bite the carpet.

We’re taking his loss a lot harder than we would have expected and miss him terribly, especially since we spent a lot more time with him than ever before during this past year of staying at home. He was such a unique little dude with his one snaggle tooth, pink nose, and different colored ears.

We just got notification that his ashes will be on their way home to us soon, and we ordered a beautiful little gold urn engraved with his picture on Etsy. Bye buddy 😢

I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a cute little guy.
You were doing great since he lived a long life.
The good times will help you to remember him fondly.

RIP little Garth, you are loved.
