Hello! I bought my hedgie fluker's freeze dried crickets. I checked the label when I got home, and saw that they're gut-loaded with calcium. The product is marketed towards reptiles, birds, and tropical fish. Is it safe to give him 1-2 as a treat daily?

Freeze dried insects are not good for hedgehogs. The freeze drying process damages the proteins in the exoskeleton and make them hard for hedgehogs to digest. There have been hedgehogs that have had bowel impactions from freeze dried insects.
