When looking for a good food for my soon to be hedgie, cat food or typical hedgehog food, what percentages of fat & protein should I be looking for? Of course low fat, high protein, but I need like a guide to go by.
I know fat needs to be 15% or less, and I want to say Protein is suppose to be 30% or more, plus there is crap you need to avoid like filler material such as corn or gluten, you want meats to be one of the first ingredients on the list and not meat bi-products which are usually the unhealthy crap.
Cat Food is the typical hedgehog food, actual food labeled for hedgehogs are not recommended for their regular food, in general these foods are just repackaged food for other animals like ferrets, rats and hamsters, and some will contain crap that is even toxic to hedgehogs and other small animals, like grapes and raisins. Anything that is safe for them to eat, is concidered 'junk food' and should be more or less used as a treat and not their mainstream diet.
