Hey everyone! Im Steffanie, and today I picked up my first hedgehog today. A family who could not care for her sold her to me, and I have to admit I dont know much about them. So that leads me to a few questions... What is considered to be the best diet on this site? Ive read a lot of conflicting information on diets and I'm real confused. I was also wondering how long it might take for her to get use to me, the family told me that she was about 7 months old and has not been handled a lot. Feel free to throw any other information in that you think I should know about the species. Thanks!!!

If you just browse around on this forum, you'll find lots of information on toys, handling, and other things. However, for the hedgie's diet, most people agree that a mix of two or more good cat foods are the best for their main food. There is a list of good cat foods here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15
It may take her awhile to get used to you, especially if she hasn't been handled much. But you never know, she may turn out to be a very sweet girl after a bit of cuddling.
Just remember to not rush her and go slowly. It does take some of them a long time to get used to being handled.
