This Groundhog Day, if you don’t mind,
I say we should all look to find,
A better mascot,
Of similar lot.
I like the hog of the hedge kind.
The hedgehog as all of you know,
Is really no fan of the snow.
They’d much rather hide,
In burrows inside,
Unconcerned with matters shadow.
The hedgehog’s nocturnal by trade,
Preferring to sleep through the day.
They come out at night,
When there is no light,
‘Cause they’re scared of even the shade.
So, here’s to my new bestest friend,
The hedgehog, to whom this is penned,
Whose thoughts on weather,
Do not change whether,
We’re closer to the winter’s end.
