 So I was holding my hedgehog today and felt flab on the sides of his abdomen. He is pretty solid and was always a pretty big guy, but being fat isn't the best thing for a hedgehog. He runs on his wheel at least five hours a night and gets 15-30 minutes of playtime outside of the cage. He eats blue, fruits, veggies and mealworms everyday. His temperament is fine and his eating is fine. Blue has a high protein content, but was starred in the nutritional section. I feed him a baby handful of about 30 pellets, then I soak them and cut up some new fruit or veggie to add in along with like 10-15 mealies (Live). I just don't get why he's so fat, are my portions wrong? I think he weighs like 557 grams. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated:D

That's too many meal worms :) Cut down to 1-2 mealworms per day!

Some hedgies will eat as much as you feed them. 1 table spoon of food + some treats should be more than enough.
