When trying to determine your hedgehog's coloring you may want to look at the HedgeHog Central's color guide by clicking on the link below.

According to Bryan Smith
"We use 8 individual "markers" to identify colour.
These are:
1 - overall pellage (colour)
2 - quill banding
3 - Skin colour (over the shoulder area)
4 - eye colour
5 - nose colour
6 - mask
7 - mottling on the legs and underbelly
8 - age

Keep in mind when asking the forum members to help determine your hedgies color to include more than one picture. The photos must be in white lighting if possible. It takes all eight color indicators or markers to give a definitive color pattern for a hedgie. You can have an Algerian patterned hedgie without a mask. The face can have a pinto spot. So you need to look at skin color and the mottling of the skin on the feet, legs, and belly. So the more pictures - at different angles - helps immensely.
